A US Patent has been assigned to Northwestern University, listing Alvaro Mata as an inventor. The team of inventors in the patent also include Samuel I. Stupp, Shuming Zhang, and Megan A. Greenfield. In particular, the invention relates to aligned nanofiber bundle assemblies formed of peptide amphiphiles. These aligned nanofiber bundle assemblies have potential for use for the study of macroscopically aligned arrays of cells, and could also lead to the development of therapies that require directed cell migration, directed cell growth, specially in tissues such as heart, brain, and spinal cord, including for diagnostic methods, research methods, and drug screening.
