PhD Student co-supervised with Prof. Christopher Heeschen
Project: Development of a biomimetic and tuneable three-dimensional platform to propagate pancreatic cancer stem cells.
Key Areas of Expertise
- Molecular Biology
- Translational Research
- Cancer Stem Cells
David graduated with a BSc degree in Molecular Biology (first class honours) from University College London in 2015. During his final year, he joined Prof. Kaila Srai’s Lab to work on the effects of quercetin on neuroinflammation. Before graduating, he was accepted into the London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme (LIDo) funded by the BBSRC. He did his first-year rotation project at the UCL School of Pharmacy under the supervision of Dr Mine Orlu-Gul, where he explored different strategies to improve the delivery of rapamycin. At the end of his first year, David joined the Centre for Stem Cells in Cancer and Ageing at the Barts Cancer Insitute for his PhD project. Under the supervision of Prof. Christopher Heeschen and Prof. Álvaro Mata, his project aims to develop an ex vivo cell culture platform to study cancer stem cells.
